Mr. Schneeweis has extensive litigation experience in the representation of clients in federal and state trial and appellate courts, and has represented manufacturers and other businesses in commercial litigation ranging from Internet libel, unfair competition, trademark, patent and copyright infringement and theft of trade secrets. He had one of the first reported California state court Internet libel jury trial verdicts, in a case in which he obtained a $1 million verdict on behalf of a client whose competitor had posted libelous statements about his business which had allegedly originated from dissatisfied clients. Mr. Schneeweis has successfully represented both U.S. and foreign clients in various industries-such as steel manufacturing, agriculture, and apparel-in U.S. courts in breach of contract, breach of warranty and unfair competition litigation. He also provides advice on trademark procurement and enforcement has given seminars and speeches to businesses on Internet libel, trademark infringement and unfair competition.
In addition to his commercial and IP litigation experience, Mr. Schneeweis represents manufacturers of various prescription medications and medical devices in complex product liability litigation in both federal and state trial and appellate courts. He has also counseled manufacturers on various product liability issues, including adequacy of warnings, marketing and FDA rules on promotion of off-label use. Mr. Schneeweis also has extensive experience in the representation of federal agents and other officials in federal civil rights litigation arising from law enforcement activities.
Mr. Schneeweis manages the Morris Polich & Purdy’s San Diego office and chairs the firm's Commercial Law Practice Group.
