Supreme Court Tracker

     California Supreme Court - Morris Polich & Purdy

    The Tracker is a unique tool that helps you to identify and follow selected civil cases that are pending decisions in the California Supreme Court. Typically, it is not easy to find out if there are pending cases on a particular issue or in a particular practice area. Thus, as a service to our clients and friends, the Appellate Practice Group at Morris Polich & Purdy LLP charts the Court's grants of review and briefing developments in cases that are relevant to our civil practice.

    These are the areas we track: Attorney-Client; Civil Litigation & Commercial Law; Construction & Design; Employment; Insurance; and Products/Environmental. Within each area, the Tracker is broken down into three columns.

    • The "Issues" column begins with key words, followed by a description of the case taken from the Court’s weekly summary of accepted cases.
    • The "Status" column reports on where the case is procedurally. Procedural posture is reported in the following order:
      (1) granted review and opening brief due date;
      (2) argued and waiting for opinion;
      (3) set for argument;
      (4) fully briefed and waiting for argument;
      (5) in briefing.
    • The "Case Information" column contains the case name, supreme court number, and a link to the Court of Appeal opinion being reviewed.

    The Tracker is updated regularly after the results of the Court’s weekly conference are posted. Only lead cases are shown. Cases on grant and hold pending a decision in the lead case are not included.
